Breakfast is the easiest meal to skip when you are running late and rushing out of the door.
A smoothie is one easy way to eat more raw and kickstart your day. People tend to think “healthy eating” and “time consuming are synonymous”. But with smoothies, you can prep, make, and wash up in under 5 mins. You can even try making it the night before if your mornings are busy.
The star of this smoothie are berries. For the purposes of this recipes I used them in frozen form. Frozen berry mixes are very easy to keep and are often cheaper than fresher berries. As the EatWell Plate specifies that we can choose from either fresh, frozen, canned, dried or juiced, frozen berries are a great choice and are full of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
Another great thing about berries are that they contain low sugar. So if you are trying to keep your sugar intake low, but still want to enjoy fruits, berries are a great option. Most of the carbohydrates inside the berries are fibre and very little is sugar.
This breakfast smoothie also contains oats which are full of fibre and will keep you full till lunch time. Whilst the berries give it a beautiful colour and a sweet taste.
Start off your day with this delicious smoothie and you won’t be reaching for that 11:02AM snack.
